Leadership
TKE
offers young men the opportunity to develop as leaders---and prepares
them to use those skills during their lifetime.
Members
of our chapter are extremely involved in other organizations on
campus. We have members in the Interfraternal Council Executive
Council, Greek Life Office, Homecoming Committee, PAVE, Fantasy
Sports and Finance Club, Badger Dairy Club, along with many of other
organizations.
TKE
allows new members to immediately step into a leadership role that
will enrich them as an individual as well as prepare them for positions
post graduation.
Scholarship
TKE
understands that you are a student first and a fraternity man second.
We work hard to ensure that you succeed scholastically while you
are a member of TKE. We are one of the only fraternities on campus
that tracks the study hours of each of their members. All members
are also reviewed each semester to ensure they are fulfilling their
academic obligations as a TKE.
In
the time that we have implemented these academic recommendations,
we had seen 8 semesters of improved chapter GPA, reaching
above the all male campus average.
If
you have any questions about Scholarship at TKE, feel free to contact
our Scholarship Chair Ben Rangel, brangel@wisc.edu.
Philanthropy
and Community Service
TKE
thinks it is very important that we give back to the community.
As a chapter we have set high aspirations in the areas of Philanthropy
as well as Community Service. Raising over $4,000 in the Spring
of 2011, it is our goal to reach $5,000+ the following semester.
TKE
mandates that all members complete at least 10 hours of approved
Community Service each semester even though most members surpass
that requirement.
Our
Chapter has also aimed to raise $5,000 for our Philanthropy, St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We already held one benefit concert
in our basement, which raised $1,000 dollars, and are looking forward
to holding more in the near future.
Brotherhood
TKE
ensures that the bond of brotherhood built with the other members
of our house is a strong one. Our Chaplain organizes our FAC (Friday
After Class) meal where we all get together and wind down from a
hard week of classes. On top of our regular meetings, we have scheduled
brotherhood events that range from wiffleball on the front lawn
or our beautiful rooftop looking over Lake Mendota, to pumpkin carving
in our chapter room, to traveling from Madison to the Wisconsin
Dells.
If
you have questions about our Brotherhood events, feel free to contact
our Chaplain, Paul Hoernke at hoernke@wisc.edu.
Athletics
During
the course of the academic year we strive to keep our minds, as
well as our bodies, physically fit. TKE participates in intramural
and Greek league sports throughout the school year, ranging from
flag football to broom ball. Last year we were the Greek League
runners-up in Softball and we are looking to capture the championship
this spring.
If
you have any other questions, or are interested in a house tour,
do not hesitate to contact our President Jack Concannon at jconcannon@wisc.edu
or by phone: (347) 420-4903.
