Welcome to the University of Wisconsin Madison. The UW- Madison is without a doubt one of the best public universities in America. While the university is a haven for academic excellence, it offers many recreational and extra-curricular activities. For me, joining Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity in the fall of my freshman year and serving as an active brother has been one of the best experiences of my life.

Founded in 1896 as the first non-sectarian fraternity (founded by a Catholic, Protestant, and a Jew), Pi Lambda Phi’s creed aims to eliminate prejudice in our society. As a brotherhood we are devoted to equality amongst all of our members, and we are composed of men of different races, religions, and walks of life. Additionally we are devoted to having fun, and we see ourselves as a Fraternity that works hard and plays hard. We are very socially active, and Homecoming, formals, and parties are just a few examples of some of the many fun activities which Pi Lambda Phi participates in every year.

Recently our chapter celebrated its 75th anniversary. The success of our house is not only due to the responsibility of the brotherhood, but also due to our active and generous alumni such as Bud Selig (commissioner of Major League Baseball), Senator Herb Kohl (WI), and Steve Marcus (C.E.O. of the Marcus Corporation). Our house is conveniently located at 619 Mendota Court, located just off of Langdon Street and just a few steps from Memorial Union, the College Library, and State Street.

I wish you a great freshman year and encourage you to keep your options open. We hope to see you in the fall. Make sure to check out our 2nd annual Pi Lam Pig Roast on September 5th. It’s and event you won’t want to miss. In the meantime, please visit us online at http://www.sit.wisc.edu/~pilams/
