Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.

Mission: The purpose of Lambda Theta Alpha is to provide social and cultural activities, and to carry on charitable and educational programs. To promote leadership, maintain high academic standards and serve as a voice for the Latino/a community. Lambda Theta Alpha is a sorority for all women seeking an outlet for leadership and a sisterhood for life. Lambda Theta Alpha is Latina by tradition, not by definition. We welcome women from every background and walk of life.

Principles: The principles of Lambda Theta Alpha are unity, love and respect.

History: Nationally, Lambda Theta Alpha was founded at Kean University, New Jersey in 1975, making it the first nationally-recognized Latina based sorority. Since then, LTA has expanded across the nation and continued on its mission to promote the universal woman.

In the Spring of 2003, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. – Gamma Mu Chapter became the first Latina based sorority in the University of Wisconsin –Madison. Since 2003, the Gamma Mu Chapter has won many local and national awards and continued its outstanding legacy through each new pledge class.
