In order to work toward a more unified Greek community, Greek organization members, participated in a program designed to bring together all of the diverse leaders of fraternities and sororities for a day long program with the purpose of increasing understanding and communication. S.A.L.A.D. (Seeking Alliances Through Leadership and Diversity) was a leadership workshop, a communications roundtable, a diversity appreciation seminar, and a public relations think-tank all wrapped into one day.
“The mission of S.A.L.A.D. is to bring fraternity and sorority students and governing councils together in a setting which fosters a greater understanding of our differences, a realization of our shared values, and a strengthening of our commitment to work together for the benefit of our community”.
Greek members from the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council participated in the program on March 8, 2003 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Pyle Center.
The students that participated in the program worked together to compile a list of cooperative action items to address issues that affect the Greek community. A committee-made up of representatives of all the Greek councils and organizations-have been working together though out the semester to make these goals into realities.
