THE PURPOSE OF DELTA DELTA DELTA shall be to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way.
Delta Delta Delta is one of the largest national sororities and has maintained a strong presence at UW Madison for nearly 110 years. Our chapter is very diverse with women from all over this country and with majors from every college here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tri Delta prides itself on being the first women’s fraternity established without the help of men.
Leadership: There are many ways to be involved in Delta Delta Delta and the Greek community. We have many leadership positions in the house and many of our members hold leadership positions on the Panhellenic Board, All Greek Council and other student organizations relating to business, law, the arts and engineering. The involvement of many of our older members makes it easy to get involved right away. Our chapter participates in many Greek activities like Greek Week and Homecoming along with Leadership Conferences, informative speakers and other workshops.
Philanthropy: Delta Delta Delta is very active in community service and philanthropic events on campus and in the community. We have three philanthropies every year Cakes for Kids, a pancake breakfast, Sincerely Yours, a letter-writing campaign, and our newest event Delta Dodgeball, a dodgeball tournament. All of these events benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. On a national level, all Tridelta chapters raise money for St. Jude and our national goal is 10 by 10 or raising $10 million by 2010 and we are very close to this goal. On the local level our chapter participates in Dance Marathon benefiting the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. Our chapter also participates in other events put on by other greek chapters on campus.
Scholarship: Delta Delta Delta always stresses the importance of academic achievement throughout the year. Tri Delta holds a professor dinner once a semester and also has a scholarship banquet to recognize those who have succeeded academically. Our academic chairwoman is available to answer questions about classes, professors and majors and we have a lot of other resources at the house to help with academics.
Social: Tri Delta participates in a variety of social events through out the year. Such events are: Date parties, theme parties, semi-formals, and formals. Our chapter also holds many sisterhood events such as a Valentine’s sisterhoods, Grammy, Oscar, and other award show events, Retro exercise days, March Madness bracket competitions, Salsa Dancing, and many other events.
