When you meet a Pi Phi, you
realize immediately there's somthing unique about her. She
is a woman of integrity and leadership, and encourages her sisters
to excel both academically and morally. As a member of Pi
Beta Phi, you will find that sisters support each other in everything
they do.
Pi Beta Phi was founded in
1867 as the first national sorority for women and continues to maintain
a strong reputation both on campus and nationally. Here at UW-Madison,
Pi Phis successfully participate each year in Humorology, Homecoming,
and Greek Week. They also take part in a variety of community service
activities devoted to serving the needs of local youth. Among these
is Hoops for Hope, an annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament that raises
money for Children’s Cancer Research; and Champions Are Readers
(CAR), a reading program that pairs elementary school children with
Pi Phis in an effort to improve youth literacy.
The women of Pi Beta Phi
are actively involved in non-Greek activities as well. Many hold
leadership positions in student health, government, business organizations,
while others participate in campus athletics ranging from dance
to lacrosse. Pi Phis are a diverse group of women who share a common
bond of sisterhood.
Pi Phis love to have fun
together—whether it’s at a Badger football game, a Friday night
social event, or just hanging out in the chapter house. Pi Beta
Phi is unique because it is the only sorority house on campus with
direct lake access. During warmer months, Pi Phis love to relax
on the dock and enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Mendota . With
so many opportunities, Pi Beta Phi offers women a positive college
experience and the chance to make friendships that will last a lifetime.
“Dave Matthews said it
best when he wrote the verse, ‘See you and I have a better time
than most can dream of.’ This quote exemplifies the amazing times
I have spent with my sisters here in Pi Phi. These fun-loving, enthusiastic,
and down-to-earth women have become my second family – a home away
from home – providing support, laughs, and lasting memories. Without
a doubt, my decision to go Greek and join Pi Phi was one of the
best decisions I have ever made!”
